WordPress: Self-managed vs maintenance contract

Now that you have signed up for your Red Cactus hosting account you probably want to proceed with the WordPress (or any other CMS) installation or alternatively upload your custom developed pages in order to publish your website.

There are basically two ways to go about this:

    1. As a self-managed service* you can install and maintain WordPress, Joomla, etc.,  Alternatively you can publish your custom developed pages in the format of your choice, i.e. DNN, HTML, etc.  Please note that we only offer technical support for WordPress and you will be required to contact your developer for assistance on any of the other platforms.
    2. Alternatively, you can sign up for one of our maintenance contracts**, whereby we will update the content on your site and also ensure the plugins/add-ins remain compatible with your WordPress installation and theme.

    Please note the following:

    *  Should you decide to make use of option 1 (self-managed service), you will be solely responsible for the updates and maintenance on your site. Please visit our WordPress guide here https://kb.netmask.host/kb-article/wordpress-guide/

Should anything go wrong with your WordPress site, we will gladly assist, although our standard support rate of R420.00/hour (Incl. VAT) will take effect to investigate and possibly rectify any errors, seeing that we would not have been responsible for the development of the site.

**  You might feel that all of this is simply too time-consuming and rather decide to opt in for one of our maintenance packages. Kindly navigate to https://kb.netmask.host/website-and-hosting-retainers/ and view the applicable fees.

    Important note:

The maintenance packages exclude the initial charge for the design and subsequent development of the site and/or plugins purchased.
